Our block

Heres a couple of pics of the site. As you can see it is nice and flat so no retaining walls required :-)

My car is parked in the future driveway

Heres a house across the road - They will probably be in before we get our approval.

Sahara - On display

Plantation homes (PH) have finally opened a display for the 'Sahara' at Northlakes. The facade option shown is different to that which we have selected but it gave us a good feel for the building form and the internal spaces. I have attached a couple of pictures.

The Sahara is a new design for PH so we should have one of the first built!

Even better PH have decided to streamline the process by reducing the number of facade options to four. Our selection has been discontinued so we should have the only Sahara with 'Indigo facade' which was great news to us.

Waiting Waiting

Despite being told by Plantation that our boundary relaxation would be approved over two weeks ago it looks like we wont be seeing anything for at least another week.

Plantation use BCC's Fasttrac approval system and this is all that is holding up our approval to start on site.

Our application was lodged at the beginning of August (i.e. over 7 weeks ago) but somehow BCC records are showing that it was only received 2 weeks ago! Whats worse, it was only just assigned to an approval officer 2 days ago. VERY FRUSTRATING!!

Introduction

To buy or to build? We pondered this for a long time and eventually decided to give building a go.

Our plan is to use Plantation Homes to build our new home, a Sahara Q2, in the bayside suburbs of Brisbane.

Land is registered, finishes selected, plans completed and contracts are signed so now we are just waiting on Brisbane council to give us the big tick.

Council has promised our plans will be approved this week? I have little faith that this will happen as we have been led to believe the same thing for the past 3 weeks :-(  It has been 7 weeks in council so far.

Oh well we will wait and see what happens. Fingers crossed.

Just wanted to set up this blog to share our experience of building with Plantation Homes
